OETC-Inspired Professional Development |
5A: Participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning
In early 2015, I was given the opportunity to attend the Oregon Educational Technology Conference (OETC). I participated in many sessions where I learned a lot of amazing tools that could immediately be used in the classroom or staff meetings. Days after I went to this conference, I developed and facilitated a 2 hour technology professional development for all of the 3rd-5th grade teachers. I taught them how to use Kahoot.it, Plickers, Blendspace, Thinglink, and a few others. I made this Google Document to give access to the information for future reference.

School Leadership |
5B: Exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others
I have taught in many schools. In every school, I have become the go to technology person. I believe this is because I have a passion for utilizing technology with our students. I also believe that teachers don't intentionally misuse or fail to implement technology because they want to put our students at a disadvantage. With training, all teachers can be effective teachers of technology. Teachers require proper training in the area of technology. Until they are given this training, I will continue helping anyone who asks for help.

School-Wide Behavior Professional Development |
5B: Exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others
In the Spring of 2015, I was given the opportunity to lead a professional development that began the discussion of positive behavior changes in our school. In order to do this, I utilized Plickers as an engaging and interactive assessment tool. I had a lot of questions which needed to be answered. After collecting the answers for all the questions, I was able to print off the answers in graph form. This allowed our staff to have a discussion within 10 minutes of the final question. The staff had nothing but positive remarks towards the integration of the technology into the professional development and also asked me to show them how to use the technology within their classrooms.

Google Drive Training |
5D: Contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community
A common problem in many schools is communication. In order to solve this problem I facilitated a training with our Instructional Assistants on how to setup, access, and utilize Google Drive. This was a request by them so that they may be able to communicate effectively as well as stay consistent. By teaching the Instructional Assistants how to use this technology, I empowered them to develop these skills that will later be transferred to students and other staff members. In order to ensure they continued to understand how to utilize this technology, I created this Google Doc which I used during the Professional Development and then shared with them.
